Gate-side burgers in Terminal A

Hubcap Grill sits in Terminal A at George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH), on the concourse used heavily by United Express and a mix of regional flights. It’s a straightforward spot for a burger and fries before shorter hops out of Houston. You’re airside, so it works for anyone already through security in Terminal A, but not for landside meetups.

This is a casual, order-at-the-counter setup with airport-standard pricing; expect burgers here to run higher than a typical city location, in the mid-teens once you add fries. Seating fills up fast around the 6:00–8:00 a.m. and 4:00–7:00 p.m. banks when A’s commuter gates are busy. Build in a few extra minutes if your flight leaves from one of the lower A-gates with longer walks.

Menu focus is burgers and fries, plus the usual soda and beer lineup you’d expect in a domestic terminal like A. If you just need something quick before boarding, a basic cheeseburger and fries is the reliable move instead of chasing specialty builds when your group is racing a 30-minute boarding call. Expect wait times to hit 10–20 minutes when several flights out of A20–A30 are boarding at once.

Hubcap Grill works best if your flight departs from Terminal A and you’ve got at least 45 minutes until boarding. There’s no table service pace here; you order at the counter, listen for your name, and bus your own tray, which is standard for fast-casual spots at IAH. If your next flight leaves from B, C, D, or E, remember that inter-terminal train rides at IAH can eat 10–15 minutes during peak times.

Practical tip: if your gate is at the far end of Terminal A, place your order, watch the time, and leave as soon as you finish eating instead of waiting around; walking back toward A1–A3 can take 8–10 minutes in a crowded corridor.
