E · E2 Post-security

Terminal E regulars barely mention Americana, but it’s right by E2.

Americana sits in Terminal E near gate E2, post-security, almost hiding in plain sight while everyone queues at Pappadeaux or Pappasito’s. It’s a straightforward American casual spot: think burgers, fries, and salads instead of seafood towers or fajitas. If you’re flying United international out of E, this is one of the closest sit-down options before the long-haul departures board fills up around 16:00.

Menu pricing runs in typical airport range: expect burgers in the $16–$20 bracket and basic sides around $5–$7. Draft beer and house wine usually sit in the low-teens per pour, so a basic meal with a drink can land near $30 before tip. That’s similar to most Terminal E full-service restaurants, just without the long Pappadeaux-style wait that can hit 30–40 minutes during the evening Europe bank.

Food is standard American bar-and-grill: burgers, chicken sandwiches, salads, and a couple of appetizer staples like wings or mozzarella sticks. If you just want something predictable before a 9-hour flight out of gate E12, Americana works as a “known quantity” option. With zero real buzz on FlyerTalk or Reddit, treat it as a backup when lines at the Pappas operations spill into the concourse.

Service pace lines up with a typical 45–60 minute sit-down: host to check drop. Build at least a 75-minute buffer before boarding if you’re on an international flight that starts calling groups 45 minutes before departure from E gates. If you’re tight on time, skip the second drink and ask for the check when the mains hit the table; that usually saves 10–15 minutes.

Tip: If your flight leaves from E1–E4, grab a seat here facing the concourse so you can watch your gate; it’s under a 2-minute walk from Americana to gate E2 when they suddenly flip “On Time” to “Boarding.”
