C Post-security

Terminal C’s quiet cocktail bar almost never gets mentioned

In United-heavy Terminal C at IAH, Alchemy Cocktail Lounge flies under the radar while Le Grand Comptoir and Landry’s grab all the attention. You’ll find Alchemy post-security in Terminal C, signed simply as a cocktail lounge and bar rather than a sit-down restaurant. It’s a small footprint compared to the larger grills nearby, so think drinks-first, snacks-second.

Hours flex with the bank of United departures out of C, generally aligning with late-morning through late-evening flights, but it’s most useful for that 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. window when the concourse gets busy. Because it sits airside in C, it works well if your boarding pass shows a C-gate like C10 or C14 and you don’t want to trek over to Terminal E for a drink.

Menu is centered on cocktails, not beer pitchers or blender drinks. Expect airport pricing in the $14–$18 range for mixed drinks, with a shorter list of wines by the glass and a few standard beers. If you care about the pour, this is a step up from grabbing a premix margarita from a generic gate bar, but it’s not a deep speakeasy-style list with 20 different amaros.

Food options stay in bar-snack territory at Alchemy, more like shareable bites than full entrees, so don’t plan on a full 3-course meal here before a long-haul. If your connection runs tight and you’re at a C gate, it still beats trying to juggle a drink from a to-go stand at the seating area near C29. Service speed varies with the departure banks, so add 15–20 minutes to your mental clock at peak times.

Tip: If you want a proper cocktail but your upgrade just cleared and you’re near C gates, stop at Alchemy for one drink, then walk to boarding when the app shows “group before yours now boarding.”
