Gate-side tobacco stop in Terminal D
Old Virginia Tobacco sits in Terminal D at Washington Dulles, handy if your flight’s out of the United, Air Canada, or other D-gates and you want cigars or tobacco without hopping to another concourse. It’s past security, so you’re fine staying in socks-mode and just walking down the D pier instead of heading back toward the Main Terminal shops.
This is a straight-up tobacco and cigar shop, not a general duty free. Expect shelves of cigars, pipes, and accessories rather than snacks or souvenirs. Prices run higher than an off-airport shop in Fairfax or DC, but roughly in line with typical U.S. airport tobacco pricing. If you’re used to city humidor pricing, pad your mental budget by a few dollars per stick.
Selection skews toward mainstream brands, with travel-friendly single cigars and small packs that fit easily in a carry-on. You’ll also see lighters, cutters, and basic pipe gear behind the counter. Staff usually ring up purchases quickly so you can be back at your D-gate in under 10 minutes if you’re within the mid-concourse area.
Big warning: you can’t smoke in Terminal D or anywhere inside IAD, so this is strictly for take-away. If your layover’s under 45 minutes, skip the browse and grab only what you already know you want. Best tip: check your connecting gate first on the FIDS screens; if you’re in A or Z instead of D, don’t cross terminals just for this shop unless you’ve got at least an extra hour.
