Lufthansa Business Lounge

B · B49/B51

Renovation walls now cover the Lufthansa Business Lounge at B49/B51.

The former Lufthansa Business Lounge in Terminal B sits boxed in beside gates B49/B51, and the official Dulles lounge list now flags it as “temporarily closed for renovations.” If you walk that stretch of Concourse B, you’ll see the signage on the construction walls where the old entrance used to be.

This space used to handle Star Alliance passengers on evening departures to Frankfurt and Munich, but right now there’s no posted reopening date on the construction boards. One FlyerTalk report from 2024 mentioned only seeing renovation signage and no timeline from Lufthansa or the airport.

Access rules haven’t changed on paper: when it operates, this is a Star Alliance business-class and status lounge serving Concourse B, mainly for Lufthansa and other *A carriers. The issue is simple: doors closed, lights off, and no check-in staff by B49/B51.

During the renovations, regulars with Star Alliance status are redirecting themselves to other options in the same concourse. FlyerTalk threads point them first to the Turkish Airlines Lounge in B, then to United Club locations in C/D if they have time to ride the AeroTrain between B and C gates.

One traveler who did catch the interim bar setup before the full box-in called out slow bar service and a limited feel compared to a standard Lufthansa Business Lounge. That same comment now lines up with the current reality: you’re better off walking the extra 5–10 minutes to another lounge rather than lingering by B49/B51 hoping something opens.

Dulles officially lists this Lufthansa lounge as under renovation on its airport lounge directory, updated alongside other spaces like the United Clubs and the Turkish Airlines Lounge. That directory confirms the location in Concourse B, between B49 and B51, and clearly tags the status as temporarily closed.

Practical tip: if your Star Alliance flight departs from B49/B51, give yourself an extra 15 minutes to hike over to the Turkish Airlines Lounge or to ride the AeroTrain to a United Club instead of walking to the sealed Lufthansa doors and back again.
