Gate-side live music and wood smoke in Terminal 1

The Rustic sits airside in Terminal 1 at William P. Hobby Airport, between the central security checkpoint and the B and C gate split, so you pass it on most Southwest walks. It runs from early lunch into the late-evening bank, usually around 11 a.m. to last departures, and lands in the $$$ bracket compared with the food court across the hall.

Menu leans Texan and American: think wood-grilled mains, burgers, and shared plates rather than quick grab-and-go. The signature move is anything off the wood grill, with steaks and chicken plates regularly hitting the $20–$30 range. Portions track more “sit-down dinner” than “gate snack,” and the bar pushes Texas beers and whiskey alongside standard cocktails.

Service runs table-style, not counter-order, so budget at least 45 minutes gate-to-gate if you want a full appetizer and a grilled entrée before a Southwest boarding group A call. If you only have 25–30 minutes, stick to a single wood-grilled dish or a burger and skip dessert. Prices on draft beer hover in the $8–$10 range, with cocktails closer to $14.

There’s a small stage area that sometimes hosts live music in the evenings on peak days, something you won’t see at most HOU options. Seating includes both standard tables and bar stools, and power outlets line several bar spots, so you can charge a laptop while working through a plate of grilled chicken. Families do show up, but the vibe tilts more bar-and-restaurant than kid zone.

Watch the time: Southwest gates at Hobby spread farther than they look on the map, and it can be a 7–10 minute walk from The Rustic to the far end of the 20s. Practical tip: ask for your check as soon as your main course hits the table if your flight departs inside 45 minutes.
