Draft beer right by Gate 1 in Terminal 1
Local Craft Bar sits airside in Terminal 1 at William P. Hobby Airport, close enough to the central gate area that you can keep an eye on boarding screens without sprinting. It’s post-security, so this is a last-stop option before Southwest flights out of HOU.
The focus sits on beer and cocktails, with taps rotating through regional and national labels and prices at typical airport levels rather than happy-hour steals. Expect to pay more than you would downtown Houston, but not outlier-high compared with other bars in Terminal 1. If you want a proper drink instead of a quick grab-and-go can, this is one of the few sit-down bar setups in the concourse.
Food leans bar-style rather than full steakhouse. Think sandwiches, shareable appetizers, and burgers that land in the mid-teens rather than under $10. It works for a 40–60 minute layover where you have time for a plate and a pint, not a grab-and-run five minute stop. You’ll usually get a printed check at the bar, so build in a few extra minutes to close out before boarding starts.
Service speed at airport bars can swing a lot, especially around the 6:00–8:00 a.m. rush and the 4:00–7:00 p.m. bank of departures that dominate Hobby’s schedule. If you see every stool full and two-deep standing, assume a slower pour and give yourself at least 30 minutes before a Group A or B Southwest boarding call.
Tip: sit facing the main concourse monitors so you can track any gate change in Terminal 1 without constantly refreshing your phone while you finish your drink at Local Craft Bar.
