Gate 21 in Terminal 1 is where you’ll spot Dylan’s Candy Bar
This is a pure sugar stop in HOU Terminal 1, right by Gate 21 and safely post-security. It’s a small walk-in shop, not a sit-down spot, so think grab-and-go for your flight. The focus is branded candy, bulk bins, and packaged sweets rather than baked goods or coffee. If you skipped dessert at home, this is the make-up stop before boarding.
Hours line up with most Terminal 1 traffic, generally opening early morning for the first bank of flights and staying open into the evening, but late-night departures after 9:00 p.m. can find it shuttered. Prices run higher than grocery-store candy: expect $4–$6 for branded chocolate bars and closer to $10–$15 if you start scooping from the bulk bins. Factor that into the kid-bribe budget before anyone spots the gummies.
Product mix leans heavily American: peanut butter cups, chocolate-covered pretzels, sour belts, jelly beans, plus novelty items with Dylan’s branding. Pre-packed bags by weight are the easiest for a quick grab; watch the per-pound pricing on loose candy so a “small” bag doesn’t turn into a $20 surprise. For flights with tight space, pick up the flat bars or thin pouches instead of rigid gift boxes.
You’re already past security in Terminal 1, so you’re not dealing with TSA lines to reach it, just the normal cluster around Gate 21 during boarding waves. Figure 5–10 minutes to pop in, choose a few things, and pay, unless there’s a family in front of you building a rainbow mix. There’s no seating here, just shelves and bins, so plan to snack at the gate or on board.
Tip: If you’re price-sensitive, set a hard dollar limit before you start filling a bag and stick to pre-portioned packs near the entrance rather than the open bins deeper in the shop.
