Gate-side drinks in Terminal 2
Just past security in Terminal 2, Stinger Ray's Tropical Bar & Grill is the easiest sit-down spot for a drink before interisland or mainland flights. It’s a full bar and American grill, squarely in the $$ range, so expect airport pricing but not steakhouse shock. You’re inside security, so you can linger with a cocktail until boarding time instead of hovering by the gate seats.
The headliner here is the tropical cocktail list, with plenty of rum-heavy mixes built for that “last drink in Hawaii” feeling. Beer and wine are on offer too, but this place leans into blended and fruit-forward drinks more than craft taps. If you care about value, stick to the standard mixed drinks rather than the priciest souvenir-style concoctions, which can climb well past $15.
On the food side, Stinger Ray's runs a straightforward American bar menu: burgers, fries, wings, and a few salads that hover in the $15–$25 range. Portions run large enough to count as a real meal between long legs to the mainland. If you’re short on time, go for finger food like wings or fries instead of anything grilled, which can slow down when the terminal banks flights in the late afternoon.
Service speed varies with the flight waves out of Terminal 2, especially when multiple departures to LAX, SFO, and SEA bunch up in the evening. Build in at least 45 minutes if you want a sit-down meal plus a drink, and closer to an hour during peak times. Seating is bar stools and standard tables, with decent views of the concourse rather than the runway.
Practical tip: Check your gate first; if you’re leaving from a remote stand or a bus gate in Terminal 2, close your tab 20 minutes before boarding to avoid a last-minute sprint.
