Near Gate-side snacks in Terminal 2

Nijiya sits in Terminal 2 at Daniel K. Inouye International Airport, on the post-security side serving passengers on most international and inter-island flights. Think compact Japanese market more than sit-down restaurant: grab-and-go shelves, refrigerated cases, and quick checkout so you can be back at your gate in a few minutes.

In Terminal 2, Nijiya usually carries onigiri, packaged bentos, bottled green tea, and standard airport drinks. Pricing runs above street level Honolulu shops, but in line with other HNL Terminal 2 options; expect to pay airport markups for rice bowls, snacks, and canned coffee. It works best if you want something fast and familiar rather than a long meal.

Seating near Nijiya depends on open terminal chairs rather than a dedicated dining room, so plan to take your food back toward your actual gate in Terminal 2. Packaging is mostly ready for travel: bentos and onigiri handle a walk down to high 20s gates without leaking, and drinks are all plastic bottles or cans for carry-on.

Compared to other Terminal 2 spots at HNL, Nijiya leans hard into Japanese snacks and prepared meals, which lines up with the large ANA, JAL, and Hawaiian international traffic out of this terminal. You can stock up on rice-based items that travel better on a 5–9 hour flight than heavy fried food from nearby quick-service stands.

Hours at Nijiya track Terminal 2’s main international bank, generally opening in the morning before the first Japan-bound departures and closing after the late-evening flights push. If you land into Terminal 2 on a very late arrival, don’t count on it being open; grab something earlier in the concourse if your watch shows close to midnight.

Tip: Hit Nijiya in Terminal 2 first for portable bentos and drinks, then walk to your gate; lines spike when multiple widebody departures board at the same time.
