Air Canada passengers at HNL actually use the United Club by G3

At Honolulu’s Daniel K. Inouye International Airport, Air Canada premium and Star Alliance elites are usually pointed to the main United Club above Gate G3 in Terminal 2 rather than any Air Canada-branded lounge. Airport maps sometimes label this as “Air Canada United Club,” but there is only the standard United Club plus occasional access to the nearby ANA Lounge.

The lounge sits airside in Terminal 2 near the G concourse, directly above Gate G3, so you clear security first and then follow signs up one level. Hours shift with United’s long-haul schedule at HNL, and ANA Lounge hours also vary, which is why staff sometimes redirect Star Alliance passengers between the two spaces depending on which one is actually open.

There is no publicly sold day pass specific to an “Air Canada United Club” at HNL, and United’s usual paid access rules apply only to the United Club itself. If you are holding an Air Canada business-class boarding pass or Star Alliance Gold status on the same-day flight from HNL, agents at the check-in counters in Terminal 2 can confirm whether you’ll be sent to the United Club above G3 or the ANA Lounge nearby.

Reviews from United flyers on FlyerTalk point out that Star Alliance passengers at Honolulu sometimes get walked from the United Club desk over to the ANA Lounge when one of the lounges closes earlier in the evening. That means the actual space you end up in can change by the hour, especially around late-night departures to cities like Chicago or Narita.

Watch out for: the lack of a distinct Air Canada lounge sign at Gate G3, which confuses people who expect a separate door or check-in desk. Another recurring issue: operating hours for the United Club and ANA Lounge at HNL have changed several times since 2020, so don’t rely on a Google listing from three months ago.

One practical tip: at check-in on the Terminal 2 departures level, ask the Air Canada or United agent which lounge (United Club above G3 or ANA Lounge) is handling Star Alliance passengers for your specific flight time, then head straight there to avoid backtracking across the G concourse.
