T1’s Tobacco Shop is basically the duty free wall of cartons

This “Tobacco Shop” in Terminal T1 at Heraklion is part of the main duty free, not a separate specialist kiosk. You’ll mostly see shelves of Marlboro, Camel and other big-name cigarettes sold by the carton, aimed at European holidaymakers heading home. It sits airside after security, so you buy on the way to your gate rather than on arrival.

Prices come in around standard Greek levels; one Yandex reviewer called a carton “what you expect in Greece, not a big bargain.” Don’t bank on huge savings over what you paid in Heraklion city or a village periptero. Think of it more as last-minute stocking up than a serious discount play.

Cigar choice looks thin and there’s basically no sign of pipe tobacco, so aficionados are better off ordering online before the trip. Pack sizes focus on cartons of 200, with some twin-pack sleeves near the cashier. Duty free staff work the usual outbound flight wave, roughly from early morning charters through late-evening departures in T1.

Regular Greece visitors often buy their preferred brand in town supermarkets during the week and only use HER duty free if they forgot or have spare euros just before a 3‑hour flight home. Complaints mainly hit on pricing: some say they paid almost the same per pack in a Crete mini‑market as at the airport Tobacco section.

Tip: Check local shop prices earlier in your trip; if the difference is under €1–2 per carton, save time at the airport and skip the Tobacco Shop queue in T1.
