There are effectively two sides to the HER VIP scene: a landside lounge and an airside space, with the airside Evropi lounge only opening at peak times, mainly during heavy charter banks. If you have an early-morning or off-peak departure from T1, assume you’ll be using the landside option in the main terminal before passport control, so factor in the extra walk and checks when you leave for the gate.

Inside, think functional contract lounge rather than premium dining room: one FlyerTalk user calls it a “huge lounge on two floors” with food that is “reasonable but not outstanding.” Expect basic cold snacks, some simple hot bites at best, and an OK self-pour drinks station, matching reports of an “ok selection of drinks” in the landside lounge rather than anything resembling a full bar program.

The lounge layout is clearly built for volume, with a maze of tensabarriers at reception that looks worse than it usually is; one BA flyer reported only a short queue despite the heavy queueing system. Once checked in, seating spreads across two levels, and one regular notes that the lounge sits directly above the gate they often depart from, so you can watch your gate screens from upstairs instead of standing in T1’s crowded holding pens.

Hidden detail worth knowing: lockers sit near the exit on one of the floors, and at least one frequent flyer only noticed them as they were leaving, so look for them on arrival if you want to stash a small cabin bag. Access is airline and invitation only from the main terminal, typically routed by Swissport or Goldair, with Aegean and Star Alliance passengers often sent to Filoxenia and BA or other carriers steered to Evropi or the generic VIP branding.

Practical tip: aim for that 90-minute pre-departure arrival at T1, use the landside lounge if the airside one is closed, and sit near the windows above your assigned gate so you can bail out quickly once boarding starts.
