Hobart Airport’s Electric Vehicle Charging lives in the main terminal car park at T1, with four marked bays fitted with Type 2 AC chargers. You park in a standard paid parking space, then plug in at no extra fee for the charge itself. Power is meant as a top-up while you travel, not a full empty-to-full refill.

The EV bays sit close to the terminal walkway, so the walk to the T1 check-in area runs about 2–4 minutes depending on row. You still pay regular car park rates, currently aligned with the terminal car park pricing shown on the airport site. Treat this as short- to medium-stay parking rather than a long-term, week-long option if you care about cost.

These chargers use a Type 2 plug, so BYO cable is non‑negotiable; without your own lead, the posts are useless. Charge speeds are typical AC rates suited to a few hours’ dwell time, not a 30‑minute fast-charge stop. Plan to arrive 20–30 minutes earlier than you normally would if you want a decent top-up before security.

There are only four dedicated EV spaces, so turning up at 07:00 on a Monday or around the evening bank of flights means you may find all spots taken. If that happens, you can park in a regular bay anywhere in the same car park and skip the charge, but you’ll still pay the same daily parking rate at T1.

Practical tip: check your state-of-charge before you leave home; if you can arrive at HBA with 60–70% already in the battery, these T1 Electric Vehicle Charging bays work as a useful buffer, not a single point of failure.
