Cafetería Mezzanine

3

Coffee and snacks right above the Terminal 3 gates

Cafetería Mezzanine sits on an upper level in Terminal 3 at José Martí International Airport, so you’re still close to the international gates while getting a bit of breathing room from the main concourse. It’s a basic Cuban airport café: counter service, a handful of tables, and usually one or two staff on duty at a time.

Food here leans simple: expect ham-and-cheese sandwiches, pastries, and the occasional pre-made baguette, with prices that can swing higher than in central Havana but are normal for Terminal 3 airport standards. Quality varies by what’s left in the case, so check what just came out rather than grabbing the first plate on display.

Drinks are the main reason to stop: strong Cuban espresso, cortaditos, and sometimes bottled soft drinks or canned soda depending on the day’s stock. A single espresso usually runs cheaper than anything you’ll see in the duty-free zone, and the coffee tends to taste fresher than what you’ll get at the smaller gate kiosks in T3.

Service pace at Cafetería Mezzanine depends on flight banks in Terminal 3; when several long-haul departures cluster around the same hour, expect a short queue and a bit of waiting as each coffee is pulled individually. Staff typically accepts cash in local currency, and card acceptance can be hit-or-miss, as in much of HAV, so plan on paying in cash.

This is a post-security option in Terminal 3, so you should clear immigration and security first, then come up to the mezzanine level with at least 30 minutes before boarding. Practical tip: if you see a free table, grab it before ordering; seating here fills up quickly when two or three gates in T3 board at once.
