Leonardo Hotel Bar

5-minute walk from HAJ terminals gets you to the Leonardo Hotel Bar

Figure on a 5-minute covered walk from Terminals A, B, or C to the Leonardo Hotel Hannover Airport, where the lobby bar doubles as an off-terminal airport hangout. It sits inside the Leonardo Hotel right across the access road, so you stay landside and avoid another security check if you’re already out of the sterile zone.

The bar runs on typical hotel patterns, usually opening late morning and serving into the late evening, in sync with the Leonardo’s 24-hour reception. Pricing tracks mid-range European hotel standards: expect draft beer around the 4–5 € mark and mixed drinks in the 8–10 € range. It’s a sit-down spot with table service rather than a quick counter grab.

Food comes from the hotel kitchen, with the bar handling the drinks and the restaurant next door supplying mains. You’ll see standard German options like schnitzel and currywurst in the 14–20 € band, along with burgers and salads at roughly the same price point. Portions tend to be hotel-sized, aimed at people killing a night before or after flights into Hannover rather than a 20-minute dash between gates.

The crowd skews to airline crews, conference guests from the Hannover Messe, and late-arriving passengers off evening flights to HAJ. Because the Leonardo sits directly opposite the terminal complex, it’s one of the first hotel bars to fill after the last departures around 22:00. That means you can usually still get a drink here after airside options in the terminal start closing down.

Use it when rail or bus connections slip: if your S5 train to Hannover Hbf is 30–45 minutes out, walk over, grab a beer, and watch the departures board through the hotel’s lobby screens. Just budget 10 minutes each way from baggage claim in Terminal B to your bar stool and back out to the station walkway.
