The Local @ GSO

GSO ★ 3

Post-security, The Local @ GSO is one of only a few sit-down options

The Local @ GSO sits airside in the Main terminal, past security, and usually draws people who don’t want to live on prepackaged snacks. It carries a 3.0 rating online, which tracks with the feedback: serviceable airport food, not a destination in itself. Think standard American grill fare at airport prices, with a full bar if you want a drink before boarding.

Hours run roughly from the first morning bank of flights through the last evening departures, so you’re generally safe between 6:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m., but late-night delays after 9:00 p.m. can leave it closed. Breakfast typically means eggs, pancakes, and coffee in the $10–$15 range. Lunch and dinner plates like burgers or chicken sandwiches land closer to $15–$20 before tax and tip, and a beer or simple mixed drink often adds another $7–$12.

Seating is standard tables and barstools, and you’re close enough to gates in GSO’s compact Main concourse that you can usually see or hear boarding for nearby flights. Food comes out in about 15–25 minutes based on typical reports from similar GSO venues, so don’t sit down here with less than 40 minutes to departure. If you cut it closer, grab a drink at the bar and keep an eye on the screens.

Nothing on the menu has a cult following, so treat it like a normal sit-down option: burgers, salads, chicken tenders, maybe a flatbread or two, and standard domestic beers on tap. Expect the usual airport trade-offs: higher prices than downtown Greensboro and seasoning that stays safely middle-of-the-road. With GSO’s limited post-security choices, the main value here is a real table and a server instead of a gate seat and a granola bar.

Tip: If your layover is under an hour, skip a full meal at The Local @ GSO and head straight for something grab-and-go near your gate in the Main terminal instead.
