Economy Parking

Surface lot with shuttle

Lowest on-airport rates, about an 8-minute walk from Main

Economy Parking at GSO sits on both sides of the main parking garage and keeps your daily rate lower than the garage or terminal-front lots. It’s a surface lot with a marked 8-minute walk to the Main terminal if you want to skip the shuttle. For week-plus trips, regulars treat this as the default on-airport option when they’d rather save cash than go off-site.

Shuttle buses loop the economy lots roughly every 5 minutes during busier parts of the day and drop you right at the Main terminal doors. Reviews mention “a few minutes” most of the time, but after the last evening arrival bank, waits can stretch closer to 10–15 minutes when there’s only one bus circulating. All shuttles serving the Economy and short-term areas are handicap-lift equipped, which matters if you’re managing heavy bags or mobility limits.

The economy sections wrap behind and alongside the central garages, and there is no shuttle into the central or premier decks themselves. The layout means you’ll see signs for Economy on both the east and west sides of the garage, and both look almost identical in low light. People in Google reviews say they only bother with Economy for longer trips; for a 3-day weekend they’ll pay more for the garage or long-term surface because the difference over 3 days isn’t huge.

Watch out for the “which side did I park on?” problem: reviewers say it’s easy to lose your car because each economy lot row looks the same at night, and lighting in the back portions can feel sparse compared to front-of-terminal parking. The move: on arrival, snap a photo of the nearest pole number and the garage side (east or west), and on return, wait at the clearly signed Economy shuttle stop outside Main instead of trying to walk it in the dark.
