Near the Terminal 2 gates, Livraria Cultura is your book stop before boarding.
This is a full bookstore in GRU Terminal 2, not just a rack of paperbacks. You’ll see Portuguese first, but there are usually some English and Spanish titles mixed in. Expect novels, kids’ books, comics, travel guides, and a decent wall of magazines. Prices sit close to São Paulo high-street levels, so a paperback can hit R$60–R$90, but you’re paying airport mark-up more than tourist gouge.
Livraria Cultura sits airside in T2 after security, so you don’t need to budget extra time for passport or screening once you’re done browsing. It’s a solid way to kill 15–20 minutes if your boarding at a T2 gate just opened and the seating area is already jammed. If you read in Portuguese, the selection feels much stronger than the English shelf, which might only run to a couple of dozen current titles.
Beyond books, there are usually notebooks, planners, pens, and small gifts on the front tables. A basic Moleskine-style notebook can run around R$80–R$120, and simple pens are cheaper than at some duty free shops in GRU. Snacks and drinks aren’t the focus here, so plan to hit a café in Terminal 2 if you want coffee to go with your book.
Quick tip: if you care about language options, walk straight to the back or side walls first and check the English and foreign-language sections before you settle in. If nothing works for you there, you’ve only burned 3–4 minutes and can head back toward your T2 gate.
