Terminal 2 sit-down option with 4.5-star steaks
Detroit Steakhouse in Terminal 2 is one of the few full-service restaurants at GRU where you can actually sit down for a proper steak before a flight. It sits airside in T2, so you’re fine staying close to domestic and many international departures out of that terminal.
The menu leans heavy on meat: ribeye-style cuts, burgers, and combo plates that usually run in the medium price bracket for an airport steak place. Figure on mains costing more than a food-court burger but less than a hotel restaurant in central São Paulo. Portions tend to be large enough that one main can carry you through a long-haul out of GRU.
Service runs on Brazilian time, so allow at least 45–60 minutes if you have a tight departure from a T2 gate. This is not a 10-minute-in-and-out spot like a kiosk near Gate 245. Order as soon as you sit down and pay when the main course hits if your boarding time is close.
Best bets: stick to grilled beef cuts and burgers, which match the “Steakhouse” name and usually arrive cooked as ordered, from rare to well-done. If there’s a lunch special up on the board, it often undercuts the standard menu price by a few reais while using the same meat. Sides like fries or rice and beans help if you’re trying to eat one real meal before a 10–12 hour flight.
There aren’t many reliable review patterns yet beyond the 4.5 rating, so treat seafood and more elaborate dishes as secondary. If you just want a drink before boarding, grab a beer or caipirinha at the bar instead of waiting for a full table setup.
Practical tip: if you’re connecting from Terminal 3 to a Terminal 2 departure, factor in the walk and aim to sit down here at least 90 minutes before your next boarding time.
