Near gate A2, Kids Works is the toy stop at GRR
Kids Works sits airside in Terminal 1 at Gerald R. Ford International, across from some of the A-gates, and focuses entirely on children’s toys and travel distractions. It’s a small footprint, so you can scan the shelves in 5–10 minutes between boarding calls. Think last-minute fix when a tablet dies or someone forgot the stuffed animal at home.
You’ll see branded plush, small puzzles, sticker books, and basic crafts, with many items in the $10–$25 range. There are also small under-$10 trinkets near the register that work as quick rewards or backup entertainment on a 2–3 hour flight. Stock skews younger, roughly ages 3–10, with fewer options for teens.
The shop keeps airport hours, generally opening by the first morning departures around 4:30–5:00 a.m. and staying open through the last evening bank. Because it’s post-security, you can duck in after a TSA line delay without risking your flight, especially from nearby gates A1–A4. Staff can usually ring you out in under two minutes when the concourse is quiet.
Selection changes with seasons and holidays, so characters on display in July might be different by December. Don’t expect electronics beyond basic light-up toys or simple games, and snacks are limited compared with a full newsstand. Use Kids Works for one focused mission: grab a small, new activity before boarding, then head straight to your gate with five extra minutes on the clock.
