Gate-side cafe in T: Bites & Flights sits by departures
Bites & Flights sits just past security in Terminal T at Groningen Airport Eelde, a few steps from the main departures seating. You see it on the left after the checkpoint, so it works for any GRQ flight, including the TUI holiday runs. With a 5.0 rating, it’s one of the very few places here that regulars consistently rate at the top.
This is a compact cafe-bar setup, more like a Dutch brasserie counter than a full restaurant, but it covers the basics: coffee, soft drinks, beer, wine, and simple hot snacks. Expect airport pricing but not crazy hub-level markups; think single-digit euros for drinks and light bites. Seating is shared with the main lounge-style area in front of the terminal windows, so you keep your gate in view while you eat.
Food leans classic airport cafe: sandwiches, pastries, and small hot items that come out fast enough for a 40–60 minute pre-flight stop. Groningen-based flyers mention decent quality compared with the limited alternatives in this small field. You won’t find a printed “tasting menu” here, just a counter display with items you can actually see before paying, which helps if you’re trying to keep things under €15 per person.
Hours track the flight schedule, so Bites & Flights generally opens at least 90 minutes before the first departure and closes after the last TUI or charter rotation of the day. On very quiet days with only one or two flights, the staff sometimes shuts earlier, so don’t bank on a late-evening snack after the final outbound has boarded from T.
Tip: clear security at least 45 minutes before departure at GRQ and grab coffee or a quick bite here, then sit by the windows in T so you can watch your aircraft park right in front of you while you finish eating.
