Oplaadpunt voor elektrische voertuigen

EV chargers

Short-hop EV flyers from Drenthe and Niedersachsen use this spot

EV charging at Groningen Airport Eelde sits on the left in front of the T terminal entrance, signed as Oplaadpunt voor elektrische voertuigen. You pull in along the terminal access road, keep left before the main doors, and the chargers are in that front zone, not buried in the longer‑stay car parks. This setup works well if you’re dropping someone off or flying a quick GRQ–AMS or GRQ–London run and want some top‑up while you’re gone.

Signage at GRQ only calls this out as EV charging near the terminal; the airport doesn’t publish how many plugs there are, what provider runs them, or the charging speed in kW. That lack of detail matters if you’re driving in from Groningen, Assen, Emmen, or across the border from Leer or Oldenburg and planning range around a winter morning departure. Assume basic AC or slower DC, not a huge ultra‑fast hub.

Pricing, payment methods, and maximum parking time also aren’t listed on the English or Dutch airport pages as of 2026. Expect the usual Dutch pattern: pay per kWh via RFID card or app, then standard airport parking on top, but don’t plan on free charging. If you rely on a specific charge card (for example from a German provider like Maingau or EnBW), test it here on a non‑urgent visit before banking on it for a 06:30 departure.

Practical tip: arrive at least 20–30 minutes earlier than your normal GRQ routine to secure a bay, plug in, and confirm your session in the app before walking into terminal T. Backup plan: know the nearest off‑airport fast charger along the N372 or A28 in case the airport posts are full or offline.
