Departure Hall Café

Gate-side in the main departure hall, this café covers basics fast

Departure Hall Café sits airside in the main hall at Maurice Bishop International Airport, just past security and before the duty-free shop. It’s a small counter-service spot: think coffee, cold drinks, and simple hot items rather than a long sit-down meal. Seating is the usual gate-area chairs and a few nearby tables, so you’re eating within view of the international departure gates.

Hours generally track with flight banks, opening ahead of the first departures of the day and staying open until the last evening flights to hubs like Miami and New York push out. If you land early for a 07:00 departure, you’re likely to find basic breakfast options ready before boarding begins. Late-afternoon departures around 16:00–18:00 still see food and drinks available, but don’t assume full stock after the final inbound of the day.

Pricing runs in typical Caribbean-airport territory: expect to pay several Eastern Caribbean dollars more than in town for a sandwich, soft drink, or local beer. A simple snack-and-drink combo here can easily hit EC$25–35, and a couple of beers before a flight to POS or BGI might run close to EC$30. Card payment is usually accepted, but it’s smart to bring a backup EC$50 note in case the terminal reader is down.

Food is straightforward: premade sandwiches, pastries, and sometimes a hot item in a warmer, plus bottled water, juices, and sodas. You’re not getting a long menu or elaborate Grenadian dishes here, but you can grab something more substantial than a packet of chips before a 4-hour hop up to JFK or YYZ. If you want a real sit-down meal, you’re generally better off eating in St. George’s before heading to the airport.

Practical tip: if your flight boards from one of the gates closest to the single main departure hall, stop at Departure Hall Café first; once you walk toward the end gates, you won’t find many more food options before you hit the boarding queue.
