R$ 4,30 gets Ilha do Governador staff to GIG on bus 925

Line 925 – Aeroporto Internacional x Bancários runs as a regular city bus linking Rio de Janeiro–Galeão International Airport (GIG) with the Bancários area on Ilha do Governador for a standard fare of R$ 4,30. This is a local connector for residents and airport workers, not a tourist shuttle into Centro or Zona Sul, and it mainly serves people commuting between the island neighborhoods and the terminals.

The 925 stops near both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, using the airport’s public road system rather than any dedicated shuttle bay. You pay like any other Rio municipal bus, usually by cash in Brazilian reais or Rio’s electronic transport card, with boarding handled by the cobrador or front-door validator depending on the bus model. Expect typical city-bus interiors, with no luggage racks and limited space if you show up with multiple checked-size bags.

On the island side, the route runs to the Bancários neighborhood on Ilha do Governador, a few kilometers from the runways that serve GIG. Locals use it to get to airport jobs on early and late shifts, so demand spikes around published airline banks, especially near the busiest long-haul waves in Terminal 2. The short distance keeps travel times reasonable compared with crossing the bridge into the city, but traffic on island streets still slows things during weekday rush hours.

Service spans standard Rio city-bus hours, roughly from early morning around 05:00–06:00 until late evening, though you should always check the current timetable with the local bus operator before relying on the last run. Frequency varies by time of day, with tighter headways in commuter peaks and longer gaps at midday and late night. Build in at least one extra scheduled headway if a missed bus would cause you to miss a flight departing Terminal 2.

This is not an airport coach with luggage handling, so treat anything over one cabin-size bag per person as a stress test for you and everyone else paying the same R$ 4,30. If you land at GIG and your final stop is Bancários or another part of Ilha do Governador, skip taxis and apps on light-traffic days and walk straight to the 925 stop; just confirm with the driver that the sign actually reads “Aeroporto Internacional x Bancários” before you tap or hand over cash.
