Gate-side reading fix in Terminal 2

Just past security in Terminal 2, Leitura runs from 06:00 to 22:00 and fills the gap if you want a real book before boarding. It’s a straightforward Brazilian chain bookstore, not a souvenir stand with a few paperbacks thrown in. Expect shelves of Portuguese titles first, plus some international bestsellers and magazines, which helps if your flight from GIG runs long or gets pushed back.

Pricing sits at regular city-bookstore levels, not the extreme airport markup you see on snacks in T2, but it’s still Brazil, so imported English titles run higher than local Portuguese ones. Kids’ books and pocket paperbacks usually land under R$60, while big hardcovers climb fast. If you need something simple for a short hop to São Paulo, grab a thinner paperback instead of a glossy coffee-table book that will just weigh down a carry-on.

Leitura is fully post-security in Terminal 2, so it only helps for flights leaving from T2 gates, including most international departures. The shop mixes books with a small stock of basic stationery and gift items, but this is not a tech store; you will not fix a dead USB-C cable here. Figure on 10–15 minutes to browse properly, a quick in-and-out stop on the walk toward the mid-40s gates.

One practical tip: if you need English reading material, walk in early during the 06:00–10:00 window, before popular titles thin out ahead of the afternoon Europe and US departures from Terminal 2.
