Pizza Hut

2 ★ 3.6 $$$$

One of the only global chains in T2 that isn’t Brazilian fast food

This Pizza Hut sits airside in Terminal 2 at Galeão and pulls in people who just want familiar pizza before a long-haul. It’s a clear $ price tier by airport standards, but expect to pay close to double what the same slice costs in central Rio, according to multiple Google reviews. Rating hovers around 3.6, which tracks with “fine, not amazing, but predictable.”

Service is counter-style with slices held under heat lamps, and timing matters more here than at a busy street location. Reviews mention lukewarm pizza when slices sit too long, so watch what’s being served: if a fresh tray hits the counter, that’s the time to order. Seating is minimal bar-style space, so most people carry their box or slice back to nearby T2 gates.

Menu sticks to the usual Pizza Hut lineup: cheese, pepperoni, and a couple of Brazilian-leaning toppings, plus soft drinks in 300–600 ml sizes. Expect to pay airport markup on combos: a basic slice-and-soda combo often lands around what a full meal costs downtown. Groups sometimes share a full large pizza to bring the per-person cost down instead of buying individual slices.

Regulars at GIG say they walk up, ask what just came out of the oven, and point to that specific tray. If what’s on display under the lamps looks tired or the cheese has gone matte, wait 5–10 minutes and see what cycles out of the kitchen. If you’re tight on time before an international departure from Terminal 2, it’s still quicker than sitting down at a full-service spot.

Practical tip: check your gate in T2 first, then grab slices to go so you can eat while you sit within sight of your boarding queue.
