One level above the food court in Terminal 1

Upstairs in GDL Terminal 1, 900 Novecento sits on the mezzanine with a semi-open terrace that overlooks the atrium. It shares the level with other sit-down spots, but this one is recognizable by its umbrellas and rail-side tables. You access it via the escalator just beyond the main departures food court. Everything is post-security, so you’re already past document checks when you get here.

Figure on $$$ pricing: cocktails often land in the MXN 180–250 range and mains can push MXN 250–350, well above what you’d pay in Guadalajara proper for similar plates. Multiple TripAdvisor reviewers call out the sticker shock upstairs versus city bars. The menu leans vaguely Italian and international, but the food draws a middling 3/5 rating overall, so expectations should stay low-key for actual meals.

The reliable move here is the margarita. Several travelers specifically mention “really good margaritas” at the terrace bar above the food court and use it as a last-drink stop before boarding. Service on drinks is usually faster than for hot food, and you can sit with a full view of the departure hall while you finish a round. Think of it as a bar with a kitchen attached, not the other way around.

Regulars on TripAdvisor say they skip the ground-level food court completely and head straight upstairs to the terrace for calmer seating and a proper drink. It’s noticeably quieter than the main hall bar, especially on evening departures between 18:00 and 21:00. Tables turn slowly, so it works for a 45–60 minute wait before boarding a domestic or US flight from nearby gates.

Watch out for: prices padded for the airport, slow food tickets when the terminal is busy, and an automatic service charge appearing on some bills. Check the printed check before paying and confirm if tip is already included.

Tip: if your connection at GDL is under 50 minutes, skip 900 Novecento and grab something from the food court below; this place fits better when you have at least an hour to spare.
