Made-to-order slices in Fukuoka’s Domestic Terminal
Most food in Fukuoka Airport Domestic leans toward noodles and bentos; Pizza-La Express is one of the only counters doing made-to-order pizza slices. It sits airside in the Domestic terminal, so you need a boarding pass in hand before you can line up. Think quick service first, Italian restaurant second: order at the counter, grab a tray, and eat at nearby shared seating or take it back toward your gate.
Prices stay in the budget range, with individual slices usually under ¥500 and small personal pizzas roughly in the ¥700–¥900 band depending on toppings. You’ll see the usual Japan-style combos: teriyaki chicken, corn-and-mayo, seafood mixes, plus more familiar options like plain cheese or pepperoni when available. Portion sizes run smaller than US chains, so add a side or a second slice if you’ve got a long flight ahead.
Turnaround is fairly quick: pies tend to cycle through the oven every 10–15 minutes, so a fresh tray hits the counter pretty often. At peak Domestic bank times around 8:00–9:30 and 17:00–19:00, expect to wait a few extra minutes while they box takeout orders and heat new pans. If you’re tight on time, grab what’s already in the display case instead of asking for something custom.
Drinks run simple and cheap: canned soft drinks and bottled teas hover around the ¥150–¥250 mark, with a few juice options in the same range. There’s no alcohol here, so if you want beer you’ll need to hit a nearby convenience kiosk or restaurant in the same Domestic concourse before boarding. The trade-off is speed; payment is quick, and contactless cards typically process in seconds.
Tip: if you care about getting a hotter slice, ask staff which pan just came out of the oven and order from that tray rather than from the front of the display.
