Overnight layovers near FRA usually mean a free hotel shuttle bus

The Free Shuttle Bus at Frankfurt Airport links Terminal 1 and 2 with nearby airport hotels and off-airport parking lots, mostly within a 5–10 minute drive. These shuttles run set routes between FRA and specific hotels, so you ride only with guests heading to the same property or parking provider.

Most hotel shuttles pick up outside Terminal 1 arrivals hall B or C and outside Terminal 2 arrivals E, so you want to follow signs for “Hotel Shuttle” after baggage claim. Look for buses with the hotel name printed clearly on the side or on a digital front display, for example “Holiday Inn Frankfurt Airport Shuttle” or “Parkfuchs24 Shuttle.”

Many airport hotels around FRA run their shuttle every 20–30 minutes in the evening, usually between about 18:00 and 23:30, but some limit service after 22:00. Several parking-lot shuttles work 24/7 on demand instead, picking up at Terminals 1 and 2 when you call a number printed on your booking confirmation.

Officially, hotels label these as “free shuttles” for registered guests, so the ride costs €0 once you have a room booked. A few properties charge a small fee, around €5 per person each way, so it’s worth checking your hotel’s website or confirmation email for shuttle pricing and timing before you land.

Most of the larger chains within 3–5 km of FRA, such as Hilton, Marriott, and Moxy, run their own buses rather than using a shared airport coach. That means each shuttle usually goes direct from Terminal 1 or 2 to a single stop at the hotel entrance, with a driving time of about 7–10 minutes if traffic on the B43 is light.

Off-airport parking companies around FRA often bundle their shuttle with long-term parking, so a week of parking might cost around €60–80 and include unlimited free transfers by minibus. These shuttles typically depart once the driver has 4–8 passengers ready, rather than on a fixed timetable like the chain hotels.

If you land in Terminal 3 on a remote stand bus, you still transfer into the main complex through Terminal 1 or 2, and that is where you catch any Free Shuttle Bus. Build at least 30 minutes between scheduled landing and your hotel shuttle time if you are arriving from a non-Schengen flight and need to clear passport control in Terminal 1.

To avoid missing the last shuttle of the night, check your hotel’s first and last departure times in advance and save the phone number in your phone, then call from the arrivals area at Terminal 1 or 2 as soon as you have your bags.
