Terminal 1 sit-down option with almost no English chatter
Kuffler & Bucher sits in Terminal 1 at Frankfurt Airport, but it barely shows up in English-language reviews, so you’re going in with a clean slate. It operates as a classic German/Austrian-style restaurant and bar, with proper tables instead of high-speed snack counters. Expect mid-range airport pricing: mains typically land in the €18–25 bracket, with beer around €6–7 for a 0.5L pour.
The draw here is a full meal before a long-haul out of T1, instead of grabbing a €5 butterbrezel from a bakery stand and calling it dinner. You’ll usually find meat-heavy plates, salads, and at least one vegetarian main; think schnitzel, grilled meats, and daily specials listed on a board. Portions tend to skew larger than what you get at generic Schengen bistros at FRA.
Service rhythm tracks with German business restaurants in the city: sit, order drinks, then mains, with checks on request rather than dropped automatically at the 45-minute mark. Build in at least 60 minutes here if your gate is in a remote A or Z pier, as some walks in Terminal 1 can run 12–15 minutes plus an extra passport control for non-Schengen flights. If you’re tight on a 45-minute connection, this isn’t the play.
The restaurant is past security in Terminal 1, so you need a same-day boarding pass just to reach it. That also means prices carry the usual airside markup; a starter plus main and drink can easily clear €30 per person. If you only want a quick drink, you can usually just sit at the bar section for a single beer or glass of wine and be out in under 25 minutes.
Tip: check your exact pier (A, B, C, or Z) on the Fraport app before sitting down here; if your flight leaves from a bus gate in B or C, give yourself a 20-minute buffer from paying the bill to scheduled boarding time.
