Duty Free Shop

Main Terminal

Gate-side duty free in the Main Terminal

This Duty Free Shop sits in the Main Terminal at Grand Bahama International (FPO), after security, so you can walk over from check-in to gates in under 5 minutes. It’s the primary spot in the building for last‑minute liquor, tobacco, and souvenir‑style gifts before short hops to Miami (MIA) or Fort Lauderdale (FLL).

Stock skews heavy to spirits: expect mid-shelf rum and whisky in 1L and 750ml bottles, usually priced below U.S. domestic rates by a noticeable margin. Cigarettes and cigars line one wall, with cartons often cheaper than in Freeport town shops once duty is factored in. You’ll also see standard airport candy bags and a small rack of fridge magnets and keychains with “Grand Bahama” branding.

Hours loosely match banked departures, so figure the doors open a bit before the morning Miami and Fort Lauderdale runs and stay open until the last evening flights clear. If you’re on a late-arriving charter or a significantly delayed evening flight, don’t count on the shop being open past the final scheduled departure on the board.

Payment is usually handled in Bahamian or U.S. dollars, with card terminals that sometimes struggle when the terminal Wi‑Fi slows down. Keep a $10–$20 bill handy if you’re aiming for a single bottle or carton and don’t want to wait for the machine to reset.

Tip: Buy liquids here after clearing security; otherwise your 750ml rum from town risks getting binned at the checkpoint before you reach the gates in the Main Terminal.
