Zona Fresca

Tacos and burritos near the Terminal 1 gates

Zona Fresca sits airside in Terminal 1 at FLL, handy if you’re flying Southwest or any T1 carrier and want Mexican-style fast food instead of another burger. It runs standard airport daytime hours, roughly from early morning through late evening, so you can usually grab something before a 7 a.m. departure or after a 9 p.m. arrival.

The menu leans on counter-service staples: tacos, burritos, bowls, quesadillas, and chips with salsa or guac. Expect typical airport pricing, with most mains landing in the $10–$15 range before tax. Portions run bigger than a snack, so one burrito or a pair of tacos plus chips usually covers a full meal between flights.

Zona Fresca works for quick in-and-out: you order at the counter, get a number or pager, and food comes out in under 10–15 minutes when the Terminal 1 concourse isn’t slammed. If you’re cutting it close to a boarding time printed for 30 minutes before departure, stick to tacos or a burrito bowl to avoid any extra prep delay from quesadillas or specialty items.

Fresh toppings are the draw here, with grilled chicken, steak, and veggies made for the usual taco or burrito builds. If you like heat, ask for the spicier salsa options instead of the mild default; staff at Terminal 1’s location are used to customizing. Vegetarian flyers can get a rice-and-bean or veggie burrito without paying extra for meat, then add guac for a couple of dollars.

Seating is limited to a small cluster of tables near the counter in the Terminal 1 concourse, and it fills fast when several gates call boarding at once. One practical move: grab your food to go, then eat at your exact gate, which often has more open seats and power outlets than the immediate Zona Fresca seating area.
