Gate E4 in Terminal 3 hides JetBlue’s open-air Rooftop Terrace
Up near Gate E4 in Terminal 3, the JetBlue Rooftop Terrace gives you something rare at FLL: fresh air and runway views before boarding. It sits airside in the JetBlue concourse, so you need a same-day Terminal 3 boarding pass to get up there. Think of it as an outdoor extension of the gate area, not a full-service lounge with free food and drinks.
The terrace is open during core JetBlue operating hours out of Terminal 3, generally early morning through late evening while flights run. Access is included with your JetBlue ticket; there’s no extra fee, no Priority Pass, and no separate check-in desk. If your flight departs from another terminal like 1, 2, or 4, you can’t easily hop over, since each terminal at FLL has its own security checkpoint.
Seating is mostly basic patio-style chairs and tables, enough for a modest crowd from the nearby E-gates. You’ll find standard airport finishes, not lounge-style recliners or daybeds. Power outlets are limited, so charge your laptop at a Terminal 3 gate first, then head upstairs for fresh air. Shade coverage can be spotty in certain sections, which matters in South Florida heat that regularly hits the high 80s.
There’s no dedicated bar or kitchen on the terrace itself, so grab a drink or sandwich from Terminal 3 concessions before riding the elevator up. Prices match normal airport rates; think around $4–$6 for soft drinks and $10–$15 for a basic meal downstairs. Restrooms are back inside the terminal near the gates, so plan on a few extra minutes if you’re cutting it close before boarding.
On a clear day, the terrace lines up direct views of FLL’s runways and taxiways, with JetBlue aircraft cycling through all day. Sunset over the field can hit right during the heavy evening bank of departures, especially between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. It’s also an easy spot to keep an eye on your own aircraft at nearby E-gates while stretching your legs.
Practical tip: Get to Terminal 3 security at least 75 minutes before departure, clear the checks, grab food near Gate E4, and use the terrace as your pre-boarding seat instead of camping at a crowded gate.
