€6 gets you from FCO T3 to Termini with Terravision

Terravision runs direct buses from Fiumicino Terminal 3 to Rome Termini for €6 one-way or €12 return, roughly 05:35–23:00. The line targets budget travelers landing in T3 who are staying near Termini and don’t mind 45–75 minutes on Rome traffic instead of paying the €14 Leonardo Express train fare.

The run is advertised at about 45 minutes, but regulars on r/rome say you should assume closer to 60–75 minutes at rush hour or in the evening crush along Via Cristoforo Colombo. If you have a fixed dinner reservation at 20:00 in Monti, build at least a 90‑minute buffer from scheduled landing to rolling your suitcase off the bus at Termini.

Buses leave from the coach parking area outside Terminal 3, not Terminal 1, and some late‑night arrivals complain that signs send you toward trains and taxis first. Give yourself 10–15 minutes after customs at T3 to walk out, find the Terravision stop, and deal with the crowd around the stand if it’s a 21:00–22:00 departure.

Online, tickets show set times, but frequent visitors try to buy flexible options so they can board the next bus if immigration at FCO takes 40 minutes or baggage from belt 12 drags. Reviews note that buses often depart on time to the minute, and if you miss your slot you may have to pay again for the next departure instead of being waved on.

Terravision drops at Via Marsala 29 on the north side of Termini, not the main Piazza dei Cinquecento facade. First‑timers say this Marsala side feels more chaotic, with fewer clear signs for Metro Line A/B, so screenshot a map from Via Marsala 29 to your hotel or to the nearest metro entrance before you land.

This is a no‑frills coach: no onboard toilets and, according to r/travel, some subcontracted buses have weak A/C on 30°C July days. More than one review mentions oversold departures, with everyone crowding the door to get luggage into the hold and grab one of 50‑odd seats before they’re gone.

Regulars often flip the script: they take the €14 Leonardo Express train inbound during 16:00–19:00 peak, then use Terravision outbound when they already know Termini and traffic is thinner at 10:00. Some also walk a few hundred meters along Via Marsala after getting off, then switch to standard ATAC buses or Metro B from Tiburtina side stops to dodge the Termini bus scrum.

  • Step 1: Land at FCO and clear immigration and baggage at Terminal 3; expect 20–40 minutes if several widebodies from JFK, DOH, or DXB arrive together.
  • Step 2: Follow signs toward “Bus / Coach” from T3 arrivals and exit the terminal; allow 10–15 minutes to reach the Terravision stand in the coach area outside T3.
  • Step 3: Buy or confirm your ticket (around €6) at the kiosk or via your phone, aiming for a flexible ticket that lets you board any bus within your chosen day or time band.
  • Step 4: Join the queue early for your departure, at least 20 minutes before the scheduled time if it’s between 15:00 and 20:00, to avoid getting shut out if the bus fills its 50–60 seats.
  • Step 5: Load your checked bags into the hold, keep passports and wallets in a small personal item on board, and expect a 45–75 minute ride into Rome depending on A90 and city traffic.
  • Step 6: Get off at Via Marsala 29 by Termini, then follow signs or a saved offline map to your hotel, nearby Metro A/B entrances, or local bus stops along Via Marsala.

Tip: if your arrival into FCO T3 is after 21:30 and you still want Terravision, buy data or download offline maps in advance so you’re not trying to find the Via Marsala 29 stop in the dark with no GPS.
