1 $$$$ Post-security

Under €10 gets you pizza or pasta at Farinella T1

In Terminal 1 after security, Farinella is the cheap Italian option when you just want carbs and coffee before a Schengen flight. It sits airside in the main T1 departures area, so you can reach it in under 5 minutes from most gates in this terminal. Expect basic counter service, self-seating, and food that’s faster than anything in Terminal 3’s sit-down spots.

Prices sit in the $ tier: think roughly €6–€9 for a slice-plus-drink combo, and similar for simple pasta. The menu leans classic local: pizza al taglio, basic tomato or pesto pasta, and a few ready-made salads. Espresso usually runs around €1.50–€2, cheaper than many branded coffee chains in FCO. If you’re watching costs before a Ryanair or ITA domestic leg, this is one of the lowest spends in T1.

Food is display-counter style, so you can point at a margherita slice, a slab of focaccia, or a baked pasta tray and be eating in under 10 minutes. Cold drinks and bottled water sit in fridges next to the till, with standard airport markups but still under €3 in most cases. It’s grab-and-go friendly if your boarding pass shows a gate change in 20 minutes.

Quality is exactly what you expect from a quick-service Italian spot in a busy Roman terminal: decent dough, simple toppings, and pasta that holds up under heat lamps. It won’t beat a trattoria in Trastevere, but for Terminal 1 it’s reliable fuel. Seats are tightly packed and can fill up during the 07:00–10:00 and 17:00–20:00 waves, so don’t count on spreading out with a laptop.

Tip: order at the counter, grab your receipt, and move down to the pickup side immediately; in T1 queues, that 2–3 minute head start can be the difference between sitting and eating at the bar before your group is called to board.
