Gate-side beer and burgers in Terminal 1

Doppio Malto sits airside in Terminal 1 after security, so you can eat without backtracking toward check-in. It’s a local Italian brewpub setup: house beers, solid pub food, and a menu that reads more Milan street food than trattoria. Price-wise it lands in the mid tier for FCO, about €10–€14 for mains and around €6–€7 for a pint.

The focus is beer. You’ll usually see several Doppio Malto labels on tap, from lighter lagers to stronger IPAs and darker styles. A tasting flight runs roughly the cost of two pints and works if you’ve got 45 minutes or more before boarding. Staff are used to tight connections out of Terminal 1, so they’ll warn you if a dish won’t make a 25–30 minute turnaround.

Food skews pub style: burgers, chicken dishes, and shareable plates, not classic carbonara or amatriciana. Expect burgers in the €12–€15 range and sides like fries around €4–€5. Portions run larger than most sit-down spots in FCO, which helps if this is your one proper meal between a 2-hour Rome–Paris hop and an evening long-haul.

Hours usually track the main wave of departures in Terminal 1, with opening around the first morning bank and closing after the last evening flights. If you’re on an early flight out around 06:00, don’t count on a full hot menu; options lean more to coffee and simple items until the lunch prep kicks in closer to midday.

Tip: If your gate is in the high teens in Terminal 1, sit near the edge of the dining area facing the concourse so you can see boarding updates on the overhead screens without standing up every 5 minutes.
