Caffè Kimbo

3

Espresso here runs about €1.30 in Terminal 3

Caffè Kimbo sits airside in FCO Terminal 3, an easy stop if you’re flying most Schengen or non-Schengen airlines out of Rome’s main terminal. It feels more like a quick Italian bar than an airport chain, so you can grab a stand-up coffee at the counter and be back at your gate in 5–10 minutes.

A basic espresso is usually around €1.30–€1.50, which counts as a small miracle for a major hub like Leonardo da Vinci. Cappuccino runs a bit higher, closer to €1.80–€2.20, and macchiato lands in between. Drinks come fast, even when three or four people are ahead of you, because staff keep the orders moving like a city café during rush hour.

Food is standard Italian bar fare: cornetti in the morning, basic panini and tramezzini later in the day, and a few pre-made sweets. Expect to pay roughly €2 for a pastry and €5–€7 for a sandwich. Quality beats what you’ll get from the generic grab-and-go fridges in Terminal 3, but this is still airport bar food, not a sit-down trattoria in Fiumicino town.

Service works on the usual Italian system: often you pay first at the cassa, then bring the receipt to the barista pulling shots. At busy times around 07:00–09:00 and 17:00–19:00, that routine cuts down on chaos, but it does confuse people who only know pay-at-the-bar setups from US airports. Watch what locals in line do and copy that.

One practical tip: if your gate in Terminal 3 is more than a 5-minute walk, order at the banco and drink standing up rather than sitting. You’ll be done in under five minutes and still have time to hit the restroom or duty free before boarding starts.
