Near Gate area in Terminal 3, Bistro by Mastercard is one of the few sit-down Italian options after security at FCO.
This is in Terminal 3, post-security, so you clear passport checks and security before you eat and you’re already in the Schengen/non-Schengen international zone. It’s branded with Mastercard, but anyone can walk in and pay normally. Think mid-range prices: expect around $12–$18 (roughly €10–€16) for pastas or mains, with coffee and soft drinks in the €3–€5 range.
The menu leans local Italian rather than generic airport fast food. You’ll usually see a couple of pastas, a risotto or two, salads, and some cold plates that work as antipasti. If you want something quick before a long-haul out of T3, a simple pasta al pomodoro or carbonara tends to be faster to the table than meat dishes, and costs less than most hot restaurant meals in the terminal.
Service runs in sync with long-haul banks, so expect it to be busiest around late morning and late afternoon European departures. You’re already airside in Terminal 3, so walking time from nearby gates is often under 5–10 minutes, but don’t try it on a 30‑minute boarding call. Seating is standard tables rather than bar stools, so it works better than grabbing a slice and trying to balance luggage at a high-top.
Payment is the one gimmick: Mastercard holders sometimes get small promos here (check signs by the entrance or your card app), but there’s no requirement to pay with one. Contactless works, and bills split easily if you’re in a group catching the same flight.
Tip: ask your server how long the kitchen is running before you sit; late-night flights out of Terminal 3 sometimes outlast the hot menu by 30–45 minutes.
