Economy Parking Lot

On-site

FAR technically has an “Economy” option, but it’s just on-site

At Hector International (FAR), the so‑called Economy Parking Lot is still on airport property, in walking distance of Terminal 1, not a remote shuttle lot like at bigger hubs. The airport only sells on‑site short‑term and long‑term parking, and third‑party sites simply label the cheaper long‑term rows as “economy.” Treat it as standard on‑site parking with a lower daily rate, not a separate product.

Rates sit at about $5 per day on the economy/long‑term side, which undercuts most park‑and‑fly hotel packages around FAR that often run several dollars more per night once fees hit. This makes leaving your car at the airport itself the budget play for trips of more than one day, especially on week‑long runs out on Allegiant or Delta.

The Economy Parking Lot is an uncovered surface lot directly across the internal road from the main terminal, so you’re a short walk from the single entrance serving all gates in Terminal 1. Figure 3–6 minutes on foot from the farthest rows through the crosswalks to the check‑in counters and TSA. There’s no dedicated shuttle loop, which keeps things simple but means you walk it in rain or snow.

Payment runs through the airport’s regular parking system at the exit plaza, with automated machines that take major credit cards and printed tickets. Drive‑up entry is usually fine, since FAR traffic is light compared with big hubs, but holiday peaks around Thanksgiving and Christmas can still fill closer sections of the long‑term / economy area. If you’re landing on those days, add a few extra minutes to hunt a spot in the back rows.

Tip: In winter, aim for rows nearest the pedestrian walkways so you’re not dragging bags through unplowed snow; if those are full, snap a quick photo of the nearest row marker before you head toward Terminal 1 so you can find the car fast on return.
