Next to the upper-level seating area in Main Terminal
Upper Level Gift Shop sits on the upper floor of the Main Terminal at Fairbanks International Airport, above the main check-in and security area. It’s airside once you clear security, so you don’t need to go back out landside. Expect a small-town Alaska airport vibe: straightforward shelves, practical souvenirs, and last-minute basics before your flight out of FAI.
Hours aren’t clearly published anywhere, but travelers report most Main Terminal shops at FAI tracking the daily bank of flights, especially the late-night and early-morning departures to Anchorage and Seattle. Plan on it being open for the big passenger pushes and possibly closed in the dead mid-day or late-night gaps. If you land on an odd 02:00 cargo or charter, don’t count on it.
Stock skews toward Alaska-branded items: think Fairbanks T‑shirts, moose and aurora magnets, and locally themed mugs in the $10–$25 range. You’ll usually find basic snacks, candy bars, and bottled drinks priced a couple of dollars higher than downtown stores, which is normal airport mark-up for FAI. This is more souvenir stand than full newsstand; expect a few paperback books and crossword booklets, not a big wall of magazines.
Because there’s no pharmacy in the Main Terminal, Upper Level Gift Shop often carries small travel-size toiletries, aspirin, and basic cold meds. If you forgot toothbrush, deodorant, or travel adapter before a winter red-eye that might sit on the tarmac at −20°F, this is your best last stop. Tip: swing by right after clearing security rather than waiting until boarding, in case they close between flight banks.
