Taxi Service - Terminal B (Level 1)

Two-minute walk from baggage claim in Terminal B

On Level 1 of Terminal B, the signed Taxi Service - Terminal B (Level 1) stand lines up right off the arrivals area, so most travelers are curbside in about 2 minutes once bags show up. This stand serves terminal B only; if you land in A or C, you use the taxi lines outside those buildings instead of hiking over here.

Level 1 is one of several ground-transport levels at Newark, and this stand is marked with yellow “Taxi” signs plus standard Port Authority markings. Rides from Terminal B into Manhattan usually meter out in the $70–$90 range with tolls and tip, depending on traffic and destination below 96th Street. To Jersey City or Newark proper, metered fares are often closer to $25–$45.

The airport authority only backs licensed, marked yellow or authorized taxis at this stand, and there are posted fare cards and airport-branded signage right at the line. Ignore anyone inside Terminal B offering rides in the baggage-claim area, even if they quote a flat rate; the Port Authority specifically warns that only the curbside taxi queue is official.

Regulars landing in Terminal B use the taxi stand on the same level where they exit baggage claim instead of going up or down to another pickup area, which shaves several minutes off exit time. If you came in on an international arrival that dumps you at Level 1, following the overhead “Taxi” signs keeps you in the correct line without crossing to another section of B.

There’s no posted operating window; taxis run essentially 24/7, but wait times swing from under 5 minutes late at night to 20–30 minutes around the 5–8 p.m. bank of arrivals. If the line pushes past a couple of switchbacks, consider checking the rideshare pickup situation at your terminal as a backup.

Tip: Before you get in, confirm the driver uses the meter and clarify if you’ll hit the Hudson River tunnel or bridge tolls; that 1-minute chat at the curb prevents surprises when you roll into Midtown.
