Landside Food Court

Landside at ESB has a small food court and that’s it

The Landside Food Court sits before security at Ankara Esenboğa (ESB), used mainly by people meeting arrivals or killing time before check‑in opens. Reviews call the pre‑security area “basic,” and they’re right: think a cluster of generic cafés and fast‑food counters rather than a full mall. Seating can feel scarce at peak morning and evening bank times, especially around major departures to IST and SAW.

Open roughly in line with the terminal’s first and last flights, the food court works for a quick sandwich or pastry, not a long sit‑down meal. Prices skew higher than downtown Ankara; expect coffee around 60–90 TRY and simple hot items well over city rates. If you need an actual meal, you’re usually better off eating in the city first or waiting until you’re airside, where options and quality both improve.

Choice here is limited: a couple of coffee chains, a bakery‑style counter, and fast food covering burgers or basic Turkish snacks. Menus tilt heavily to pre‑made cold sandwiches, simit, and reheated pastries. Nothing stands out as a “go out of your way” dish, and several flyers mention they “had nowhere decent landside to sit and eat,” which sums up expectations pretty accurately.

Watch out for seating pinch points near the main café cluster opposite check‑in desks; at busy times you may end up hovering for a chair while dragging bags. Power outlets around the tables are hit‑or‑miss, so don’t plan on working here for an hour with a laptop. Also note: you can’t access most airline lounges from this side, so there’s no lounge workaround to the food situation.

One practical tip: if your check‑in desk opens at T‑2 hours or earlier, stay outside the terminal and eat in Ankara, then arrive closer to T‑90 and head straight through security to the stronger airside choices.
