Meter starts running as soon as Alaska Cab leaves the ENA curb

Alaska Cab runs standard metered taxis from Kenai Municipal Airport, picking up directly outside the small terminal building on Main Street Loop. There’s no rideshare like Uber or Lyft in Kenai as of 2024, so taxis fill that gap for airport runs into town. Expect cars to stage near arrivals when scheduled flights from Anchorage land, especially around morning and late-afternoon bank times.

Rides into central Kenai usually take about 5–10 minutes to cover the 2–3 mile distance from ENA, depending on your exact hotel or address. Fares change with fuel costs, but short hops into town often end up in the $10–$20 range before tip. Ask the driver for a ballpark price before pulling away from the curb if you’re watching a budget or splitting the ride with 2–3 other passengers.

Because ENA is small and flight schedules are limited, Alaska Cab doesn’t always have a full line of cars waiting at 11 p.m. or on slow midweek afternoons. If your Ravn or Grant Aviation flight lands late, call dispatch from the baggage claim area or the single public phone near the main doors and give them your airline and arrival time. Build at least a 10–15 minute buffer in case a car has to come over from another part of Kenai.

Most Alaska Cab drivers know the common stops by heart: hotels along the Kenai Spur Highway, the Safeway on Willow Street, and addresses closer to the Kenai River. If you’re heading farther, like toward Soldotna or out the Spur past Mile 10, ask at pickup if they’ll quote a flat rate instead of running the meter the whole way. That conversation is easiest while you’re still standing on the ENA curb with bags in hand.

Practical tip: Save the Alaska Cab phone number in your phone before you land at ENA, then call from the plane during taxi-in so the car reaches the airport about the time you step outside with your luggage.
