T1

Opposite security in T1, JD Sports is your last-minute kit stop

Right after T1 security at East Midlands Airport, JD Sports sits in the main departures retail strip, so you pass it on the way to the gates. It’s a standard UK JD layout: wall-to-wall trainers, logo hoodies, tracksuits and gym basics. If you realise at security that your hoodie is too thin for a 6:00 flight or you forgot gym gear for a trip, this is the easiest fix before you head to the gate.

Stock leans heavily on big brands: expect Nike, adidas, The North Face and Under Armour at typical high-street pricing, not outlet levels. Trainer ranges run from casual adidas Gazelle and Nike Air Force 1 to more running-focused models, usually with multiple colourways on display. Clothing racks carry men’s, women’s and kids’ sizes in the same space, so you can kit out the whole family in one 10-minute loop before boarding from T1’s single pier.

Opening hours track the early departures, with JD Sports usually open from the first bank of morning flights until the late-evening Ryanair and Jet2 services clear. You can often swap out a worn carry-on hoodie for a fresh branded sweatshirt and still grab coffee before a 07:30 departure. Prices mirror typical UK JD stores in Nottingham and Derby, so you’re not paying an extreme “airport premium” on basic items like caps and socks.

Browse quickly, then pay contactless; queues spike when multiple departures between 06:00–08:00 board from T1, so if you need trainers or a tracksuit, duck in right after security rather than waiting until your gate is called.
