Gate-side caffeine stop near early ELP departures
Black Mesa runs from 5:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily, which lines up well with El Paso’s morning bank of flights. It’s a straightforward coffee and pastry counter, useful when you just need something in your hand before boarding. Expect espresso drinks, drip coffee, and basic baked goods rather than full meals or complicated custom drinks.
You’ll find Black Mesa post-security in the main concourse serving Terminals A and B, so you don’t have to leave the secure area to grab a latte. It’s walk-up only, no table service, and the line around 6:30–8:00 a.m. can add 5–10 minutes. If your flight boards at 7:00 a.m., hit this before heading to the gate instead of after you hear the first boarding call.
Pricing runs in typical airport range: expect coffee in the $3–$6 band and pastries a bit under or around that. Think muffins, croissants, and similar quick bites, not large breakfast plates. If you want a real sit-down meal, head toward the bigger restaurants in Terminal A; Black Mesa is more of a grab-and-go stop between TSA and your gate.
One functional tip: ELP security can open right around 4:00–4:30 a.m., so if you’re on the very first flights of the day, you’ll still be waiting about an hour before Black Mesa starts pouring coffee. For those mid-morning departures, budget a short stop here, then walk straight to your gate in A or B with coffee in hand.
