It’s one of the few food options in the terminal, and it runs on flight schedules rather than fixed hours: it opens 1 hour before the first departing flight and stays open until the last departure goes out.
Prices sit in the $ range, so you’re not getting downtown Vail markups here. Expect basic café items: drip coffee, simple espresso drinks, bottled drinks, and quick bites that fit the ski-helmet-under-arm crowd. Think pastries, grab-and-go snacks, and light cold items rather than full hot meals.
Because it’s after security and near Gate 2, Hardscrabble works as a backup if you misjudged time and skipped food in town. It’s more of a “keep you from being hungry on a 2.5-hour DEN or DFW hop” stop than a sit-down meal.
