YO!

★ 3.5

£4.50 salmon nigiri and miso soup before security

YO! sits landside at Edinburgh Airport, up on the first-floor food court near check-in, so you can eat here even if you’re just dropping someone off. It’s a full-service sushi bar with the familiar conveyor belt plus made-to-order hot dishes. Rating hovers around 3.5 out of 5, which matches expectations for an airport branch of a UK high-street chain.

Opening hours usually track early departures, with shutters up around the morning wave and staying open into the evening bank of flights. You’ll see plenty of 20–30 minute turnarounds here, so it works for a quick bite if you’re at the airport more than an hour before departure. Being pre-security means you’ll want to keep an eye on the time; security at EDI can easily eat 20–30 minutes in peaks.

Prices are standard YO! territory: expect £3–£5 for most colour plates on the belt, around £4–£6 for hand rolls, and £7–£11 for hot mains like katsu curry or yakisoba. A basic sushi-and-miso combo will land you roughly in the £12–£15 range before drinks. Tap water is free on request, and soft drinks run around £3 a glass or bottle.

Quality is fine if you stick to fast-moving items: salmon nigiri, spicy rolls, gyoza, and chicken or pumpkin katsu usually turn over quickly in a busy airport. If plates look like they’ve been circling awhile, skip them and order from the menu instead; the kitchen can turn out a fresh katsu in roughly 10–15 minutes.

Tip: because YO! is landside, clear your bill at least 45 minutes before your flight’s scheduled departure to leave a safe buffer for security and a walk to the gate at EDI.
