The Garden

£10–£15 mains at The Garden before security

The Garden sits landside in Edinburgh Airport’s main terminal, useful if you’re meeting someone before they clear security or you’re early for check-in. It runs typical daytime hours that track with flight banks, so you’ll usually find it open from early morning through the evening departure waves. Rating hovers around 3 out of 5, which matches the “it’ll do” vibe: fine when you don’t want to eat in the lounge queue or live off meal deals.

Menu pricing lands in standard airport territory, with most burgers, salads and mains between about £10 and £15, and coffee priced above high-street chains but not by much. Expect familiar pub-style plates and breakfast standards rather than anything experimental. It’s table service, so factor in 30–40 minutes if you’re ordering a hot meal, and closer to 15–20 minutes if you’re just grabbing a drink and a quick bite.

Drinks cover the usual airport trio of beers, house wine and basic spirits, plus soft drinks and tea/coffee. A pint often runs around the £6 mark, and a glass of house wine usually sits in the £6–£7 range, which is in line with other EDI outlets. If you’re tight on time, stick to coffee or a cold drink rather than cocktails; prep is slower when the bar is supporting the full restaurant floor.

Being before security, The Garden works best if you’re flying out of the main terminal and still have at least an hour in hand. Remember you still need 15–25 minutes for security at EDI in normal queues, plus a 5–10 minute walk to many gates once you’re airside. Final tip: check your gate number on the screens by the entrance before you sit down, so you’re not sprinting across the terminal with a half-finished plate on a 40-minute turnaround.
