Gate-side caffeine fix before security closes
Edinburgh Airport’s main Starbucks sits landside in the terminal, so you can grab a latte before security and carry it through. It’s a standard Starbucks: green siren logo, drip coffee, espresso drinks, iced beverages and branded snacks. Expect prices in the £3–£5 range for most drinks, with basic filter coffee on the cheaper end. Rating hovers around 3 out of 5, so think functional caffeine stop rather than a special trip.
This branch runs from early morning through the evening to catch the first and last wave of flights. If you’re on a 06:00 departure, you’ll see a queue forming by 04:30–05:00. The menu covers the usual suspects: Americanos, flat whites, caramel macchiatos, refreshers, plus pre-made sandwiches and cakes. Food tends to be airport-marked-up; a simple sandwich or panini can push past £5.
Ordering is the standard Starbucks drill: pick your size (Tall, Grande, Venti), then customise with extra shots, syrups, or dairy-free options. Oat and soy milk are usually available, though they can run out later in the day on busy Fridays and Sundays. If you just need speed, stick with brewed coffee or an Americano; those clear the line faster than anything blended or with extra toppings.
There’s limited seating directly around the counter, and at peak times around 07:00–09:00 and again from 16:00–18:00 people hover for tables. Grab-and-go works better: carry your drink to the main seating near check-in or head for security and drink it in the queue. With the $ price tier, this is one of the cheaper caffeine options in the building, but still more than a city-centre store.
Tip: If your flight leaves in under 40 minutes, skip frappuccinos and food heat-ups here and order a simple hot drink; you’ll be through in under 5 minutes instead of 15.
